Aircraft Workshop Services Manager - London Heathrow

Are you an inspiring Engineering leader ready to drive operational excellence across one of the most critical maintenance functions at LHR? We're looking for a dynamic, strategic and people‑focused leader to take ownership of our Aircraft Workshop Services, covering the Fleet Support Facility, Power plant Support Facility, non‑Destructive Testing (NDT), and Cabin operations.

In this high-impact role, you'll ensure seamless coordination between aircraft maintenance and workshop/cabin activities, delivering exceptional reliability, availability, safety and value. You'll shape strategic plans, embed a culture of continuous improvement, and champion safety at every level.

What you'll be doing

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a key member of the LHR Maintenance Leadership Team.
  • Partner across Engineering to support fleet growth, improve aircraft availability.
  • Align Workshop & Cabin plans with the wider LHR Maintenance strategic objectives.

Regulatory & Safety Accountability

  • Act as the nominated post holder for LHR Workshop operations, ensuring compliance with Part 145 and Part 21G requirements.
  • Maintain excellence in regulatory compliance through robust governance, colleague engagement, and targeted training.
  • Role model and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring a safe, secure working environment.

Operational Excellence

  • Lead year‑on‑year improvements in performance, quality, and cost.
  • Develop and manage service level agreements with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive bench marking, continuous improvement, and value‑added change across all workshop and cabin functions.

People & Change Leadership

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with trade unions through meaningful engagement.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire large teams to deliver business change with clarity, empathy, and confidence.
  • Manage resource planning, load, and capacity across the department.

Qualifications / experience

  • Educated to HNC level, degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in leading and empowering change in an operational or service environment.
  • Experience leading an Engineering department
  • Detailed knowledge of maintenance integrated processes and systems
  • Working knowledge of H&S legislation
  • Strong knowledge of Part 145 operations and Workshop maintenance functions
  • Strong knowledge of Part Pt21G production, including Workshop manufacture processes
  • Workshop Approval or Part 66 Licence holder
